There are different viruses that cause cold whereas sinusitis is the infection of the space behind the nose. Cold gets resolve in 5 to 10 days but sinus infection lasts for 4 weeks or longer. Cold spreads when someone is infected and transmits the virus into air by coughing or sneezing whereas sinus infection is the swelling up of sinuses, air mucus and bacteria gets trapped in swollen sinuses.
