How To Spruce Up Your Mundane Bathroom

When we’re thinking about updating home décor, the bathroom often gets overlooked. It’s a place of practicality, after all. We go in there for a shower, for a bath, to brush our teeth, to do… other things. What we’re saying is, it’s not really on the top of our priorities when it comes to making things look beautiful.

This is a mistake, however. As already mentioned, we actually spend a lot of time in the bathroom, and it’s a great place to de-stress and get ourselves fresh and lively again. The décor should reflect this.

Many 21st centuries fall into the trap of looking mundane and boring, but there are plenty of ways you can spruce up your own bathroom space to make it a room you actually want to be in:

First Off, Think About The Little Details

There are a number of small details you can add to your bathroom to make it look beautiful. Whether that’s a washing cup or a new toothbrush holder, little things like this can actually make a big difference and add a bit of character to the bathroom that was previously missing.

Fun, Quirky Accessories

When it comes to towels or bath mats, these can also be changed up to be a little more… well, fun! Look into getting a bath mat with a message like “GET NAKED” woven into the fabric, or personalised towels for both you and your SO. Anything like this can once again add character and put a cheeky smile on your face.

Natural Décor

As we mentioned before, the bathroom is an important place to de-stress and forget about the problems of the world for a moment. One great way to compliment this is through natural décor, such as house plants. These can not only oxygenate the room, but add a bit of natural colour too.

A Paint Job

Speaking of colour, look at the walls and work out whether it is giving off mundanity because of the colour scheme. It’s easy enough to come up with a new colour pallet, especially when it comes to a typically small room like this. Choose warm colours that will elevate calmness and tranquillity, and you’ll be surprised how much this helps.

A Majestic Mirror

You also want a way to brighten up your space. If you do not have windows in the bathroom, then think about purchasing a beautiful, majestic mirror. This will not only add some more of that much needed character, but also reflect light around the room and make it feel brighter as a result.

A Bench… In The Shower!

You wanna get quirky? Why not put a small bench in the shower? Many of us like to spend a lot of time in the shower, and placing a cute wooden bench there can not only be an interesting centrepiece in terms of décor, but allow you to sit down and truly enjoy your late-night scrub!

Tidy It Up!

Lastly – and if you don’t want to put too much effort into this re-jig – simply look at the space and tidy it up! Get rid of all the unnecessary items in your bathroom or add a bit more storage so that you can place them out of sight. You can get away with a minimalist bathroom, no matter what your home design scheme is, so simply tidying it up could be the boost it needs to venture from mundanity to beauty.
