What is diabetes?
Coming to diabetes, many people have labelled the disease as sugar or sugar disorder. But if you are to take the real name of the disorder, it is known as diabetes mellitus or diabetes in general. Also known as juvenile – onset diabetes, this diabetes cause is mainly due to the reaction of the auto-immune system where the defence system of the body is unable to produce enough insulin to reach the blood cells of the body. People suffering from type 1 diabetes suffer from little or almost no production of insulin in the body. There is no age for the sufferance of this type of disorder, it can happen to anyone.
Causes of diabetes –
The causes of type 1 diabetes are when your body’s defence system is unable to fight the infection, different unwanted attacks inside the body and destroys the production of the insulin in the pancreas.
Studies have stated that this cause of diabetes is mainly caused due to genetical inheritance, getting affected due to several environmental factors that include viruses, which might be a source of the cause of type 1 diabetes.
Type 2 Diabetes Causes
When it comes to type 2 diabetes, this diabetes cause is caused by several factors. The main cause of diabetes is insulin resistance. There too the insulin level decreases leading to high sugar level.
Causes of diabetes –
The most obvious cause of diabetes is physical inactivity especially in the case of type 2 diabetes. If you are not that active physically, you are more likely to get obese or rather start gaining unnecessary weight.
Gaining excess of weight might lead to lower the production of insulin in the body which might also be termed as insulin resistance. When you tend to gain enough belly weight, there are higher chances of insulin resistance, cause of diabetes and also heart and blood diseases.
Insulin Resistance
Unlike the type 1 diabetes cause, type 2 diabetes does produce insulin. The hidden factor here is that the amount of insulin produced by the pancreas is either not enough for the body or they are unable to use the insulin.
When there is not enough insulin produced in the body, the right amount of glucose will not reach the blood cells of the body. Thus, it might result in the improper functioning of the body.
Genetical Factor
There are certain diseases which get inherited from the family and such leads to another of the causes of diabetes. Just like in the case of type 1, type 2 diabetes can be caused by genes. There are different types of genes through which you might be suffering from type 2 diabetes mellitus. Another cause of type 2 diabetes is that it might increase the chances of a person gaining too much weight or becoming obese.
What are the other causes of diabetes?
The other causes of diabetes are –
Hormonal Disease
There is a certain type of hormonal imbalance in the body that might result in the lower production of insulin in the body which might lead to being the cause of diabetes.
Among such of the hormones, one of them is known as the stress hormone which is scientifically known as cortisol. If this hormone is produced in excess, you might suffer from diabetes.
People who are suffering from hyperthyroidism might also be affected by the cause of diabetes. As the increasing amount of the thyroid gland’s hormones might result in excess weight gain.
Genetic Mutations
Like mentioned before, there are causes of diabetes through a single gene which is often known as monogenic diabetes. This processing of the mutation might not let the pancreas to produce enough insulin for the functioning of the body.
Then there is hemochromatosis. This is the problem where the body tends to store too much of iron and if not treated on the right time, it might affect the pancreas too badly even might reach up to the other organs of the body. This might also lead to be another of the causes of diabetes.
Another cause of diabetes can be cystic fibrosis. It is the condition where there is the release of thick mucus getting stored in the pancreas which might affect the growth and production of insulin in the body.
Surgery or Removal of the Pancreas
There are certain people who are unable to produce insulin in their body due to non-development of the pancreas in the body or removal of the same. There are even harmful beta cells that get inside the body which might even cause pancreatic cancer leading to the removal of the pancreas and becoming of the huge causes of diabetes.
